A Year of Women in STEM - #MondayMotivation

Women in stem lift the bar for all
I’ve just finished a great session at the gym. It will be a long time before I can identify myself as fit or strong, but I suddenly realised that lifting a barbell is the same as talking about women in STEM.

To lift the bar correctly and avoid injury, it needs to be level. Push too hard on one side, and well… it ends in a mess. Training is all about focusing on keeping control and making sure the bar rises evenly.

Unfortunately, many in STEM seem to have entirely missed the idea of raising and promoting all people equally. So to mark Ada Lovelace Day 2018, we are pleased to announce one year of posting #mondaymotivation focusing on the tremendous but under-recognised work that women have contributed to so many fields in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Let’s raise the bar evenly, by redressing the balance.
